The multi-storey car park situated near the main train station in Ebingen was originally built in 1991. The main body of the building compromises of structural steel composite elements and delivers 524 parking spaces.
A substantial amount of chloride damage was detected, especially on the lower levels of the car park and subsequently further damage caused by corrosion to the concrete reinforcement bars. Due to the nature of the prefabricated construction method employed, the chloride containing melted water from snow could spread unhindered through the numerous construction joints and the corrosion protection coating also showed signs of ageing.
AMP was awarded the contract to produce a design for complete renovation of the car park. In addition to this the ingress / egress would be redesigned to be more spacious and visible. On levels 0 and 1 would be a secure comfort park zone with enlarged parking spaces.
